A leading pharmaceutical company headquartered in the Europe provides

Stylus Systems helped them combine their services and retailer network
using the power of the Internet to aggregate and share knowledge. The
combo of information and online utility allowed each participant in their
supply chain to work more effectively towards improving their key services.
Using our applications they were able to build community and user generated
content that serves as a comprehensive resource and support site for the
medical and pharmaceutical industry.
Most companies today are recognizing the need to rely on an e-business
solution as a source of revenue and competitive advantage. The Internet
serves as a primary support platform for all kinds of enterprise applications.
Problem: A leading pharmaceutical
company headquartered in the Europe, needed to webify their sales data
for marketing and customer service access. Providing web access to the
sales data warehouse would enable ease of use for both the company and
their customers.
Solution: At Stylus Systems, we helped
them combine their services and their retailer network using the power
of the Internet to aggregate and share knowledge. The combo of information
and online utility of the same allowed each participant in their supply
chain to work more effectively towards improving their key services.
Our technical team at Stylusinc developed a solution that would extract
information from the Pharmaceutical Company's sales database in an XML
format and export it from their Intranet to the web in a secure manner.
XML or extensible Markup Language has become the dial tone
for computers to exchange information today. And, eXtensible Style Sheet
Language Transformations or XSLT is the general mechanism that translates
these XML documents from one to another.
Leading Pharmaceutical Companys sales data is stored in an XML
format at their data warehouse. This data is then extracted and transferred
on to the web for use by their retailer network comprising hospitals,
trusts and consortia (that operate these hospital groups). Users can access
the database through the Internet and keep track of their targets on a
real-time basis.
Technologies used in developing this
product: ASP, XML, XSLT and IIS
Web enabling their supplier network introduced the following benefits:
- Self-service data access available to employees and retailers on
a 24 * 7 basis
- Secure access to data and system resources (authentication of data
users)
- Constant updating of data on a daily basis
- Provide real-time access of sales data to retailers
- Customer provides customized information and site access privileges
to each user
- Allows users to store and share documents online
- Eliminated repetitive data entry thus leading to increased efficiency
and time savings
In effect web enabling their data base helped them build a comprehensive
resource and support site that enabled a real-time tracking of all their
supplier and distributor networks that form a part of their global infrastructure.
Customer-centricity is the key business imperative driving
the move to web-enabled data warehouse access today. More superior information
about customers can be learned because of their interaction with a database.
This process of gleaning more and more information about customers can
create a spiral effect that will enhance the core competency
of an organization and also provide the best competitive advantage.
